April 10th was quite a busy Wednesday at Blue Inc. USA. Over 40 guests arrived in Conover at Blue’s headquarters for the Profile Wrapping Symposium. Our partners WPR/TAKA and Renolit gave wonderful presentations on the profile wrapping process, information on materials and films, as well as industry trends. Along with presentations, guests got to experience demos of Blue’s profile wrapping machine.
The Profile Wrapping Symposium featured speakers from TAKA-WPR, an industry leader in profile-wrapping machinery, adhesives, and primers. Franca Bajeli, International Sales Manager for TAKA-WPR, gave guests insights on the profile wrapping industry in Europe versus that of the U.S. She illustrated that in Europe 40-60% of all PVC profiles are laminated. In North America, particularly in the U.S. profile wrapping for PVC profiles is very uncommon with only a few manufacturers using the process. One of those manufacturers is Blue Inc. USA.
TAKA Academy Director and author of Windows Profile Wrapping, Maurizio Carrer, spoke about the technical ins and outs of wrapping window profiles. Mr. Carrer has been the TAKA Academy Director for eight years and held 44 training sessions worldwide in 2023. He went into detail on primer application, proper heating of profiles, and glue temperatures for perfect adhesion.
David Harris, Project Manager, for American RENOLIT Corp. talked about the extensive line of RENOLIT films available for profile wrapping. Harris covered high-performance films for outdoor applications such as exterior window profiles, cladding, and decking. He also spoke about films for interior use such as interior millwork.
After a delicious catered lunch guests got a demo of Blue’s second TAKA profile wrapping machine. Mr. Carrer pointed out important steps in primer setup, maintaining consistent temperatures for glue, and more as the machine ran profiles. Guests were able to see a TAKA-WPR machine in action and gain expert advice from Ray Rice, Technical Director at Wrap-Tak Inc. the only company to provide machinery packages of TAKA-WPR profile wrapping machines and adhesives.
After an informative day of learning many guests gain a deeper understanding of profile wrapping. Blue Inc. USA was honored to be a part of this great event and give thanks to those at TAKA-WPR, RENOLIT, and Wrap-Tak Inc. for putting on such a great symposium.
